An Exploration of Agritainment with Becker Farms + Vizcarra Vineyards and Freedom Run Winery

On this episode of WNY Soundstage, host Daniel Lendzian speaks with Melinda (Mindy) Vizcarra, co-owner of Becker Farms and Vizcarra Vineyards, and Kurt Guba, the vineyard manager at Freedom Run Winery.  Both discuss agritainment in Western New York.

Agritainment is a portmanteau that combines the words agriculture and entertainment.  The autumn, especially in Western New York, is the time to discover agritainment activities.  Many local farms and vineyards have added various attractions to bring more visitors to their establishments. Agritainment activities can be “pick your own” produce, petting zoos, corn mazes, haunted hayrides and cooking classes.

  • The events that make these venues Agritainment destinations

  • The changes that must be made to stay relevant
